The 2010 - 2011 SeasonThe highlight of the 2010-2011 season is the Choral Artists’ collaboration with The Alexander String Quartet to commission, perform, and record new works for chamber choir and string quartet. The May concerts include three major new works by Paul Seiko Chihara, Michael Gandolfi, and Veronika Krausas, new transcriptions of Brahms Quartets Opus 92 for choir and string quartet, Beethoven’s tender Elegischer Gesang and a very few a cappella and quartet-only works to round out the program. More details Multi-Grammy award winner Judith Sherman will produce a full-length recording of the concert program to be released on the Foghorn Classics label. More about the SFCA+ASQ Collaboration”Music that combines a vocal chamber ensemble with an instrumental chamber ensemble is particularly compelling,“ comments ASQ’s Sandy Wilson. ”It permits a level of intimacy between the performers and the audience that isn’t possible in larger ensembles.“ SFCA’s Solomon adds: ”There is magic when two chamber groups, each with its own sound world, are brought together. The synergy offers composers and performers a dazzlingly broad palette for exploring color, emotion, and creative expression, and it offers audiences an unparalleled musical experience.“ |
