Martha StoddardMartha Stoddard holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Humboldt State University and a Master of Music degree from San Francisco State University. She studied flute, conducting and composition, and has an abiding interest in contemporary music Locally, her works have been performed in concerts of the American Composers’ Forum, the New Music Forum, Composers Anonymous, Womensing, Scwhungvoll!, Oakland Civic Orchestra, and the Community Women’s Orchestra. She has also composed incidental music for three productions at Humboldt State University, including a mainstage production of Oh, What a Lovely War and an original chamber opera setting of Hansel and Gretel. She has also conducted and played numerous premieres of works by Bay Area composers. Ms. Stoddard currently teaches Instrumental Music and Music Theory at Lick-Wilmerding High School in San Francisco and is the Artistic Director of the Oakland Civic Orchestra. She is a member of the San Francisco Composers’ Orchestra, the piano trio Chamber Mix, and was a member of Schwungvoll New Music Ensemble and the Hoover Woodwind Quintet for over five years.
