San Francisco Choral Artists December concerts feature Benjamin Britten’s Ceremony of Carols with harp accompaniment, and other works exploring the mystery and mysticism of the earliest Christmas music, with beautiful and evocative Medieval texts set by composers of all periods.
Early music composers include Victoria (O Magnum Mysterium), Tallis (O Nata Lux), and anonymous 13th and 14th century composers.
Bay Area compositions include world premiere works from the Choral Artists’ 2005 and 2006 Composers-in-Residence, Maia Aprahamian (Coventry Carol) and Henry Mollicone (Alleluia), as well as works by David Conte (Ave Maria), Brian Holmes, Jerry Mueller and others. Other contemporary composers include Morten Lauridsen (O Nata Lux), Joubert, Ord, Sametz, and Skempton.
Celebrate with us after the concert at a yuletide feste with mead and other Medieval treats.
